Exif & IPTC Metadata Browser App Reviews

Requires location data?

This app requires access to your gps to determine your location. Otherwise it doesnt work. No thanks.

Declined access to my location and app shuts me out

Shame on you guys

Does NOT Work!

Application does not work. I have a LOT of iPhone photos, and nothing will show in the list!

Photos "disappear"

Unlike "Thaden" below, I do know (now) exactly what event causes all the photos to disappear from both the Camera Roll or Photo Library. At least I know one cause. I completely cold-booted this iPhone 4 and the images reappeared. This happens now consistently. It for sure can be reproduced be taking just one picture with the native Camera App. Do that (take a picture) and the EXIF IPTC MetaData Browser App can no longer "see" any images. I am sure it is a simple fix. We just need a new release with that bug fixed. Come on, Cyril. I know you arent making a lot of $$ on this, but I also know you take pride in your work.

Crash, crash,crash....

This developers excuse about not working on images from the computer because of iTunes is lame Other apps in this genre have no problem with any images imported in any way. I purchased this app some time ago looking for a good EXIF reader for my iPad2 and at the time it did not fill the bill for me, so I deleted it in favor of another app. I did continue to use it without a problem on my iPod Touch 4G. When I saw this upgrade, I thought I would give it another chance and reinstalled it on my iPad2 running iOS. 5.0.1 Sadly, it crashes when trying to read files uploaded using my Camera Connection Kit, or saved by other apps to the Camera Roll. Three different images, three times it crashed while loading....sorry, its going in the dumper again. And now this upgrade has made it useless on my iPod as well.

Needs MSG on none

Please add a confirmation message if no information is found instead of just closing the app. Otherwise pretty helpful. I would like to know, as someone else had asked on another of these types of apps, why it has to have access to the location in order to read existing information.

Waste of a dollar

I bought this app so I could see meta data associated with pics .. It says it wont work because I wont let it know my location . I cant see a reason why you need to know where I am to read the Exif data , .. Maybe I am an idiot , but it doesnt make sense to me .

Wish I could...

Wish I could see the date with m/d/year instead of the way it is displayed. Also, it would be awesome if I had the option of seeing the photos FULL size. In the meantime, Ill keep shopping around for other apps that make that happen...

Metadata date always wrong

The date of the photo is never right. Took photo with iPhone 5s then used this software to check date. Its always off.

Needs work

The thumbnail grid needs to show which photo is currently selected.

cant copy data

All text anyplace should be selectable and copyable. All files should allow naming and placing and saving as i wish.

Photos extension is nice

The Photos extension is nice. You have to hit "edit", then "...", then select Metadata. A few other comments: * The app itself is very basic. * It would be nice to be able to edit metadata in the Photos extension if iOS allows that. * It would be good to allow copying of metadata fields.

Extension not found

When I open the photo app I dont see any option to view metadata, not even when I tap Edit as someone suggested. I tried closing the app then re-open, no change. GPS coordinates are displayed when available, but it would be better if you could tap on a link to open an embedded map or the Google/Apple maps apps. Another reviewer remarked that it was not possible to copy metadata, but I can confirm that it is. To most people metadata are just boring and meaningless info. If this app could open maps and overlay selected metadata onto a photo while viewing them or display them below a photo then more people would find metadata meaningful. Edit: Changed rating from 2 to 3 stars because I find myself using this app often despite its shortcomings.
